Former Sen. Gary Hart to Speak Monday

Former United States Senator Gary Hart will speak at Emory University today, Nov. 24, on the topic "Imagination and the New Republic:  Democratic Leadership in the 21st Century." The talk will take place at 11:30 a.m. in the Winship Ballroom of the Dobbs University Center, 605 Asbury Circle, Emory.

Hart will offer insights on the nation's leadership today, based on his scholarship of early U.S. political philosophy as well as his own experience as a statesman and public servant.

Since leaving the Senate, Hart has been extensively involved in international law and business as a strategic advisor to major U.S. corporations, and has served as a teacher, author and lecturer. He currently is Scholar in Residence at the University of Colorado and Distinguished Fellow at the New America Foundation. He was recently named chairman of the Council for a Livable World and is chairman of the American Security Project.

The lecture is sponsored by: The Hightower Lecture Fund, the Center for the Study of Public Scholarship, the Program in Ethics and Servant Leadership, Department of Political Science and the Institute of Liberal Arts.
