Urban Mosquito Research Creates Buzz
Research links raw sewage in city streams and mosquitoes."Before I joined this research project, I had no idea that many major cities in the United States let raw sewage flow into streams that border parks and homes. It just seems unsafe," says Greg Decker, a senior majoring in environmental studies.
This week, Decker is presenting Emory's research findings on mosquitoes and Atlanta streams at the annual meeting of the Ecological Society of America. Decker received a funding award from the ESA to travel to the meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
