Emory's Woodruff Health Sciences Center Launches New Web Site

Emory University's Woodruff Health Sciences Center (WHSC) this week launched its new web site (emoryhealthsciences.org) to provide visitors with comprehensive web pages that are easy to engage and navigate. Online visitors will now find information they need including rotating feature packages, news, publications and multimedia.

"By enhancing these resources, Emory wanted to highlight all the great clinical, research and teaching activity we have here," says Jeff Molter, Emory associate vice president for communications and director of the office of Health Sciences Communications. "The new web site presents in a clear and accessible format the leadership of Emory's Woodruff Health Sciences Center in the academic health sciences arena."

Emory's stakeholders and audiences will be able to visit the website for new clinical and research information, interesting stories, press releases, newsletters, articles, photos, multimedia and links to important WHSC services.

Reflecting the Emory brand throughout, the site is easy to navigate, with highly visible search and directory buttons and links for patients to Emory Healthcare's consumer site (emoryhealthcare.org). Emory Healthcare is the largest, most comprehensive health system in Georgia. In addition, visitors will be able to access a wealth of information about WHSC research and education. The site offers history, leadership, vision and goals, statistics and more. From the home page you can access news in a variety of formats, from podcasts and videos to audio slideshows and magazine articles.

Selected highlights include:

  • Emory's WHSC Newsroom makes finding news and supporting information one click away. The web site provides direct access to all of the media relations team and is a full-service news office available 24 hours a day, every day, to respond to inquiries from the media. The media toolkit page not only offers general media information, it provides online media kits with comprehensive information on major areas of interest including the schools and centers, Emory Healthcare, campus construction, research initiatives and more. The Newsroom home page features a team member every month and with one click a reporter can find the news team and its bios. In addition, the online photo gallery offers easy download of web-ready and high-resolution images of Emory University faculty, staff, doctors, facilities and more.
  • The publications section of the WHSC web site features internal and external publications in health sciences, including those in schools of medicine, nursing and public health as well as specialty and Emory Healthcare publications. The section highlights one frequently updated feature story along with flagship magazines and newsletters and related multimedia. Also featured is a searchable gallery of frequently requested downloadable photos in seven subject albums.
  • The research section of the WHSC web site includes a diverse and multi-level presentation of WHSC research excellence and serves as a useful reference source for detailed information about specific research programs, faculty, facilities and policies. Frequently updated items include press releases, magazine articles, podcasts, a newsletter, facilities slide show, downloadable photo gallery and related multimedia offerings.
  • A menu links to information about clinical research, partnerships, centers and institutes, research administration offices and technology transfer. A "research shortcuts" pull-down menu allows visitors to go directly to research sites of WHSC schools and divisions, as well as to link to websites on disease-specific topics.  Information about research communications staff provides easy access and contact for media and other audiences with media officers and writers.
  • Senior WHSC leadership, under the direction of the executive vice president for health affairs, recently drafted a series of three refreshed goals that can be found on the new web site. "Transforming Health and Healing … Together" highlights WHSC's focus on alignment within the many groups comprising the Center and its collaboration with supporters, patients, partners and others throughout the community. The new web site page called About Us provides a link to the Goals and Vision, providing visitors the exact language needed to communicate this throughout the organization and externally.
