Mother, Daughter Celebrate Life Saving, Life Giving Year

Imagine a year in which you not only receive a life-saving kidney transplant from your own mother - but you also became a mother for the very first time!
So ends an incredible year for 38 year- old Atlanta resident Heather Beaumont, who this month received a kidney transplant from her mother Peg Tolle, a Tampa, Fla. resident.
Heather, who has battled Type 1 diabetes much of her life and also successfully overcame throat cancer, received a kidney and pancreas transplant at Emory University Hospital 10 years ago.
This past year in June, Heather delivered her first baby a son she thought she may never be able to conceive because of her medical condition at Emory University Hospital Midtown.
Because of the transplanted kidney and pancreas, as well as diabetic condition, Heather's delivery was much more dangerous and even required that Emory transplant surgeon Dr. Paul Tso be present during the successful delivery. A C-section was not an option, therefore every medical safety precaution would need to be taken into account.
Shortly after delivering her baby boy, Heather learned that the stress of the delivery would require her to need another kidney transplant which she received this month from her mom.
This New Year, mother, child - and grandmother will all share an incredible bond, and a story that will last a lifetime.
