Donald Harvey Elected President of the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association

Donald Harvey, PharmD, assistant professor of hematology and medical oncology at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University has been elected president of the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA).

Harvey, who is director of the Winship Cancer Institute's Phase I Clinical Trials section, is a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and a board certified oncology pharmacist. Widely published in peer-reviewed journals, Harvey's research interests include the clinical application of pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic and pharmacogenomic data to patient care.

HOPA is an international professional organization dedicated to supporting hematology and oncology pharmacy practitioners in optimizing cancer patient care. Among its many activities, HOPA provides its members with educational opportunities, supports member-initiated multidisciplinary research and develops and endorses best-practices standards for clinical cancer care.

Harvey received his doctoral degree at the University of North Carolina and completed residencies at the University of Kentucky Medical Center and College of Pharmacy and the University of North Carolina. He served as a clinical specialist in hematology and oncology and director of the hematology and oncology residency program at the Georgia Cancer Center of Excellence at Grady Health System.
