New Chief Executive Officer Named at Emory Johns Creek Hospital

Craig McCoy has been named new chief executive officer at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. He will begin his new role on May 16, 2011.

McCoy comes to Emory Johns Creek Hospital from Vanguard Health Systems, where he most recently served as chief executive officer of Paradise Valley Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. He also worked with Vanguard Health Systems in a variety of other capacities, as well as served as vice president of professional services at Oconee Medical Center in South Carolina.

“I’m pleased to be joining a hospital that is both community-based, but also part of a world-renowned academic medical center,” says McCoy. “It’s my goal to ensure that Emory Johns Creek Hospital continues providing high-quality services to the region it serves in a manner that is patient and family centered.”

“Craig brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Emory Johns Creek family, and his experience in the operations and management of community-based hospitals is a tremendous asset to our community physicians, Emory faculty and staff members,” says Emory Healthcare President and CEO John T. Fox. “As the Johns Creek community continues to develop and expand, Emory Johns Creek under Craig’s leadership will also grow to meet the needs of our valued patients and neighbors.”

Originally from South Carolina, McCoy holds a bachelor’s degree from Furman University and a master’s of health administration from Medical University of South Carolina/Clemson University. McCoy is relocating from Arizona with his wife and two children, and says he is happy to be returning to the Southeast, closer to family and friends. 

Emory Johns Creek Hospital, located in the heart of Johns Creek, is known for its state-of-the-art technology in a convenient, modern facility and campus setting.  As a community hospital participating in essentially all  insurance plans, services include 24/7 emergency care, state-of-the-art all digital imaging including a 64-slice CT, MRI, The Birth Place with Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, 24-hour anesthesiologists, intensive care, advanced cardiac care, vascular medicine and surgery, rehabilitation services and women’s services. Emory Johns Creek Hospital is home to the Atlanta Bariatric Center, designated a Center of Excellence by the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons.
